The Suzuki SV 1000 (S ) is a motorcycle category Naked Bike ( Sports Tourer ) by the Japanese manufacturer Suzuki.

She was admitted into the program as a larger displacement variant of the SV 650 2003 and filled the gap left by the discontinuation of the TL1000 in the range. She was like her little sister in two versions: Non Dressed as SV1000 and SV1000S with half shell than with a shorter swingarm. 2004 and 2005 SV1000S partly with factory-installed full fairing ( normally only available as an accessory) was sold.

Despite the trade press praised the motor and the otherwise good reviews, the SV1000 in Germany could not prevail, and so became the official import by Suzuki Germany, despite until then at least nearly 5000 copies sold, set in 2005. In Switzerland, the 2006 model was officially introduced. The SV1000 was still produced until 2008. This was available through gray market in Germany, even after 2005.

In 2005 there were changes to the Auspuffanlange and on the engine, resulting in a power increase from 120 to 124 hp. From the 2005 model year (K5 ) has been the motorcycle, among other things comes with black frame. However, this only happened in other European countries. Since the SV 1000 / S was removed from the program in 2005 in Germany, came only very few models with black frame on gray imports in the local registration statistics.

The engine of the SV1000 found in slightly modified form in the Suzuki DL 1000 V-Strom and the Cagiva Raptor 1000 use.

In contrast to the smaller SV650 no anti -lock braking system was offered for the SV1000. The top speed is 250 km / h at the SV1000S, the naked version achieved because of the poorer aerodynamics 242 Km / h
