Tacheng Prefecture
Tacheng is a government district, which is part of the Kazakh Autonomous County in the Ili Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region of the People's Republic of China.
Name
In Chinese, both the government district as well as its capital Tacheng. In other words Kazakh government district Tarbagatay ( تارباعاتاي ايماعى / Тарбағатай аймағы ) as the adjacent district in the East Kazakhstan region in Kazakhstan, and the capital is called Şәweşek ( شاۋەشەك / Шәуешек ). On Uyghur government district is also called Tarbaƣatay, the capital Qɵqək.
Geography
Tacheng has an area of 98,824 km ².
It is in Dsungarian basin in the north Ilis. In the northwest it borders on Kazakhstan.
Administrative divisions
At county level, the county government controls two cities, four counties and one Autonomous County:
- The city Tacheng (塔 城市Tǎchéng Shì ).
- The city Usu (乌苏 市WUSU Shì ).
- The circle Dorbiljin (额敏 县Émǐn Xiàn ), capital: greater community Emin (额敏 镇),
- The circle Qagantokay (裕民 县Yumin Xiàn ), capital: greater community Karabura (哈拉布拉 镇),
- The circle Shawan (沙湾县Shawan Xiàn ), capital: greater community Sandaohezi (三 道 河 子 镇),
- The circle Toli (托里 县Tuōlǐ Xiàn ), capital: greater community Toli (托里 镇),
- The Mongolian Autonomous District Hoboksar (和 布克赛尔 蒙古 自治县Hébùkèsài'ěr Měnggǔ Zizhixian ), capital: greater community Hoboksar (和 布克赛尔 镇).
Population
At the census in 2000 had 892 397 inhabitants Tacheng ( population density. 9.03 inhab / km ²).

Economy
Tacheng was formerly important for trade with Central Asia.
Meanwhile, there is a center of agriculture, focusing on cereals and cotton planting. There are also food processing and textile industries.
