Teppo Numminen

Teppo Kalevi Numminen ( born July 3, 1968 in Tampere ) is a retired Finnish professional ice hockey player and current coach, who played from 1988 to 2009 for the Winnipeg Jets, Phoenix Coyotes, Dallas Stars and Buffalo Sabres of the National Hockey League. His father, Kalevi and his brother Teemu were also professional hockey players.

Career

Numminen began his career in the Finnish SM- liiga in Tappara Tampere. NHL Entry Draft 1986, the leaders of the Winnipeg Jets secured the transfer rights of the shooters, as they selected him in the second round by a total of 29 positions. The Finn then remaining until the end of the season 1987/88 in Tampere and subsequently joined in the summer of 1988 in the NHL with the Winnipeg Jets. During the lockout in the 1994/95 season, he completed 12 games for TuTo Turku, at that time still played in the SM -Liiga. After the resumption of gaming operations in the National Hockey League, however, he returned back to North America.

When the Jets moved to Arizona in 1996 and from then on there as Phoenix Coyotes played in the NHL, Numminen followed the club and remained until 2002 /03 when the Coyotes. He spent the following season with the Dallas Stars, before it in the summer of 2005, the Buffalo Sabres joined, where he continues to have a contract.
