Tobias Enström

Ulf Tobias Enström ( born November 5, 1984 in Nordingrå ) is a Swedish professional ice hockey player. He currently plays for the Winnipeg Jets of the National Hockey League on the position of the defender.

Career

Enström first went through to 2002, the Junior departments of the Swedish club MoDo Hockey Örnsköldsvik. Despite average statistics of the then 18 -year-old received the 2002/03 season his first professional contract with MoDo Hockey and so came to his first 42 missions in the Elitserien. At the end of the year he was voted the best rookie of the season. The following summer, he was then selected in the NHL Entry Draft in the eighth round to 239th place out of the Atlanta Thrashers. However, the defenders remained more four seasons in his parent club and it has developed into a solid defensive player with strengths in both the defensive and the offensive. In his last season, he was instrumental in the first Championship win of MoDo since 1979. Offering eleven Torvorbereitungen he was the most successful original donor of the playoffs. His achievements also made the management of the Atlanta Thrashers aware of him who offered him a contract in May 2007.

After the Swede had earned a place in the squad of NHL teams over the season preparatory training camp of the Thrashers, he began with the 2007 /08 in his first in North America. Back in November Enström was elected Rookie of the month, which was two years no defenders succeeded.

After his NHL debut on October 5, 2007 Enström stood until January 22, 2011 in 296 NHL games in a row for the Thrashers on the ice, so the defender set a new franchise record.

Internationally

Enström represented his native Sweden so far in three Junior World Championships in the U18 and U20 range between 2002 and 2004, the Senior World Championships in 2007 and 2009 and the Olympic Winter Games 2010. During the 2009 World Cup he won with Sweden the bronze medal.

Enströms younger sister Tina is also ice hockey player and a member of the Swedish national team.
