Tuguegarao

Tuguegarao is a city in the Philippines in the province of Cagayan. Tuguegarao is the capital of the province of Cagayan, on the river on the southern border of Cagayan. On 1 May 2010, the city had 138 865 inhabitants.

In Cagayan Museum and Historical Research Center finds from the excavations of the archaeological sites in Cagayan Valley are presented. A major educational institution in the community is the Cagayan State University.

History

The first reports of a settlement, there were 1604. Thereafter Tuguegarao grew, particularly from the time when Lal -Lo 1839 provincial capital was. 1893 then was Tuguegarao, because of its economic development, the provincial capital. On December 12, 1899 U.S. troops occupy the city.

During the 2nd World War, the city fell on 12 December 1941 in Japan, especially since the airfield was significant. The city and the airport were eventually bombed by U.S. planes from January to May 1945. In June Filipino guerrillas liberated the town from Japanese. On 25 June, the city was finally officially released.

1975 Tuguegarao was even the capital of the district of Cagayan Valley, as it is suitable as the administrative seat of government particularly because of its geographical position in the center of the district.
