Tynwald

The Tynwald ( Manx: Tinvaal ) is the bicameral parliament of the Isle of Man. Its history can be traced back to 979, so that it is considered the oldest continuously meets on parliament in the world. The oldest surviving parliament ever since the 930 existing, Icelandic Althing, which, however, was not continuous.

The Tynwald today consists of two chambers, the Upper House ( Legislative Council ) with 11 members, two of them ex officio, and the lower house ( House of Keys ) with 24 elected representatives.
