U.S. Open 9-Ball Championships

The U.S. Open ( officially: U.S. Open 9 -Ball Championships ) are an existing since 1976 and been transmitted annually snooker tournament. It will be held in the 9-ball competition. Current venue is the Marriott Chesapeake - Norfolk Convention Center in Norfolk, Virginia.

History

The player with the most tournament wins so far is Earl Strickland, who has secured the title five times ( 1984, 1987, 1993, 1997 and 2000).

Current title holder Shane van Boening, who was able to defend his title from 2012 successfully. It was his third title at the U.S. Open. He is the fourth player to win the U.S. Open twice.

The U.S. Open 2011 won Darren Appleton, after he had already won the 2010 tournament. This was before him only two players. One of them is Mika Immonen, the 2009 prevailed in the finals against Ralf Souquet with 13:10 and thus successfully defended his title in 2008. This is according to Appleton Immonen and Nick Varner, the third player ever to have won the U.S. Open 9- ball twice in succession, and the second non-American with two wins at the tournament.

Ralf Souquet is the only German who won the U.S. Open. He succeeded in this 2002. 2004 Thorsten Hohmann reached the finals, losing to the Americans Gabe Owen. 2009 were Souquet in the finals of the Finn Mika Immonen.

For women, there is a separate tournament that is organized by the WPBA ( Women's Professional Billiard Association ). Current champion in the women 's Allison Fisher of England.
