United Nations Security Council Resolution 148
Resolution 148 of the UN Security Council is a resolution that was decided by the United Nations Security Council in the 891st meeting on August 23, 1960 unanimously. She busied herself with the inclusion of the Niger as a new member of the United Nations.
Background
From 1895 was the Niger colony part of French West Africa. 1958 Niger became an autonomous republic in the French Community and achieved independence on 3 August 1960. Became the first president Hamani Diori.
Content
The Security Council announced that it has examined the uptake of Niger as a new member of the United Nations and recommended to the UN General Assembly to agree to a recording.
Accession
Niger joined the United Nations on 20 September 1960.
