United Nations Security Council Resolution 153

Resolution 153 of the UN Security Council is a resolution that was decided by the United Nations Security Council in the 891st meeting on August 23, 1960 unanimously. She busied herself with the inclusion of Gabon as a new member of the United Nations.

Background

On September 28, 1958 France abolished the colony of French Equatorial Africa, Gabon 1959 " autonomous republic " in the bosom of France, with Léon M'ba as head of government and Gondjout Paul as President of the Parliament. Although M'ba expressly premature independence warned that seemed inevitably to lead to " a kind of neo-colonialism " him because of the underdevelopment of Gabon, the train was unstoppable on decolonization. The Security Council announced that it has examined the uptake of Gabon as a new member of the United Nations and recommended to the UN General Assembly to agree to a recording.

Accession

Gabon joined the United Nations on 20 September 1960.
