In 1776 the Duchy of Brunswick Privy Egmond Albrecht Georg von Munchausen bought from Hessian Oldendorf the fief, as reported by Rembert Baron von Munchausen, a direct descendant of that receding. And he is also related to the legendary Karl Friedrich Hieronymus Freiherr von Münchhausen ( 1720-1797 ). In this Baron, who served as Braunschweigischer officer, well known go back the imaginative tall tales, which reaped as " Wonderful trips to both land and sea " worldwide fame in the literature. Then there was the poet Borries von Munchausen (died 1945) and a number of people from this family at the former Brunswick yard. Still lives in the family Munchausen from the white line the manor, which has shaped the development of the small town. But as in all agriculturally oriented villages, this compound is sustainable declined. In addition to the Well, there are five deserted farms - after the Second World War, there were still twelve. The parish church was first mentioned in 1237. The single nave with three-quarter end was built in 1737 on Romanesque foundations; Renovations in 1950 were no longer able to save the old mosaic floor, which had exhibited Saracenic motifs. Inside the church, the grave stones of Charles of Weferlingen (1594 ), Ulrich Weferlingen find ( 1611) and his wife Catherine of Blankenburg. Small Vahlberg

1344 first mentioned as Osteren - Vahlberg 1367 and received the name Lüttgen - Vahlberg. The noble court small Vahlberg is an ancient fief of the Schwartz Kopp 's family. These include the small villages Vahlberg and Wetzleben. The village was next to the church very early on a school that occupied the property rule. For Edelhof included not only the land a fishing, hunting, and the sheep. In the vicinity of aces Alabaster was broken on the slopes, which was burned to the plaster. The medieval tower of the church and the newer ships are not flush with each other and without ground-level interconnection. Of interest is the tomb of the family of Schwartzkopf.

If today approaches the place, one in the north of Gallows Hill and located in the south Meescheberg falls on. On the Gallows Hill is an oak tree and on the Meescheberg was until recently a lime tree, which, however, was snapped by a storm. It is ever a grave mound, among whom there are princely graves. The oldest burial under the gallows dates from the late 3rd millennium BC, tombs were more ( 1600-1000 BC) created in the Middle Bronze Age and the early Middle Ages. The chieftain's grave is estimated to be the 7th century.

In 1907, examined the archaeologist F. Fuhse the gallows and put 1908 a detailed report. The history of the mountain ( we see of his recent importance as a place of execution once from ) is explicable: originally there was only a small, three Neolithic tombs landscaped hill. Later, after Merovingian burials, the hill was filled to its present height. The old skeleton grave was provided with a series of offerings that are unfortunately missing.
