Valencia Open 500

The ATP Tournament of Valencia (official Valencia Open 500 ) is a tennis tournament which has been held since 1995 in Valencia, Spain, as part of the ATP Tour. However, it changed over the years several times the venue; so it was held back in 1996 for two years in Marbella. From 1998 to 2002, the tournament then took place in Mallorca until it again moved to Valencia in 2003. By 2008, was played in the spring on clay courts; 2009 exchanged the tournament then the Madrid Masters date and covering, since then played in the autumn on indoor hard courts. Here, the tournament was also upgraded, the prize money was raised and the competition is now part of the ATP World Tour 500 Played in the purpose built L' Àgora in the Ciudad de las Artes y de las Ciencias in Valencia.

The tournament is also organizationally of interest because it is of an active and a former player, David Ferrer and Juan Carlos Ferrero, organized. Both are with a 25 % share also co-owners of the tournament rights.

David Ferrer has already won three times his home tournament. He is the most successful player in Valencia. Ferrer won the tournament both on sand and on hard court.
