Veljkovo

Veljkovo (Cyrillic Вељково ) is a village in the Opština Negotin in Bor district in the east of Serbia.

History and name

The first time, the village is 1530 mentioned in Turkish records with 28 houses and 1586 with only ten houses.

In Austria -Hungarian maps of the region from 1718 it is mentioned under the name Bljivanovac. Until the 19th century, when the village was given the name Veljkovo, it retained the name Bljivanovac.

The 2002 census (self- nomination) showed that 206 people live in the village.
