Rajac (Negotin)

Rajac (Cyrillic Рајац ) is a village in the Opština Negotin and Bor district in the east of Serbia.

Geography

Location

The village is situated on the Bulgarian border, about 60 km from the Romanian border.

History and name

The first time is mentioned in the 15th and 16th centuries Rajac. At that time the village had 50 houses. By the year 1807 it is mentioned on virtually any map in this region. It is believed that the name comes from the regional Rajac Knjas Rajka, which moved the inhabitants to the present place.

Near the village there was in the 16th century and the villages Laskovo Orašac. Over time, these two villages grew together and formed the conclusion together with the village Rajac the present village.

Population

The 2002 census (self- nomination) showed that 436 people live in the village.
