Villa Española

Villa Española is a neighborhood ( barrio ) of the Uruguayan capital, Montevideo.

Location

It is bordered by the districts Pérez Castellanos (northwest), Ituzaingó (north), Flor de Maroñas ( northeast), Maroñas ( East), Unión (southeast / south) and Mercado Modelo y Bolívar (west) surrounded. The boundaries of the district case form from the southwest clockwise the boundary line formed by the following streets: Maria de Stagnero Munar, Brazo Largo, Avenida Damaso A. Larrañaga, Ing José Serrato, Robinson, Juan de Garay, Camino Corrales, Dr. M. Aguirre, M de Guemes, JJ de Soiza Reilly, Pavon, Smidel, Grail C.Villegas, M de Guemes, Juan Jacobo Rousseau, Habana, Avenida 8 de Octubre, Camino Corrales, Avellaneda, 20 de Febrero, Fray M de Ubeda and Avellaneda.

Others

The Barrio is the seat of the sports club Villa Española. In addition, there is here the Camino Corrales the factory of tire manufacturer FUNSA at the beginning of the civil-military dictatorship in the country (1973-1985) was an important scene in 1973 as part of the general strike.
