Virovitica County

County Virovititz ( Vármegye Verőce Hungarian, Croatian Virovitička županija ) was a historic administrative unit in the Kingdom of Croatia and Slavonia (Hungarian Horvát - Szlavónország ), an autonomous kingdom under the Hungarian Crown of St. Stephen within the Habsburg Monarchy. It was managed by a Croatian Ban ( viceroy ). The county seat was first in Virovitica (Hungarian Verőce, German Virovititz / Wirowititz ), but was moved in the 18th century to Osijek (Hungarian Eszek, German Osijek ). The county included an area of ​​4867 km ². The 1910 census, according to the county had 272 430 inhabitants.
