Geography

Geographical location

Hamlet is located approximately four kilometers south of Rottenburg on the eastern Gäuhochfläche in 373-558 meters altitude. To the east is located on the foothills of the Rammert belonging Keuper ridge the 40.12 hectare nature and landscape protection area Rappenberg.

Population

With a population of about 1070 Hamlet is one of the medium-sized districts Rottenburg. Weiler has in relation to the district area of 3.84 km2, a population density of 280 inhabitants per square kilometer.

History

Hamlet was first mentioned in 1244 as Wilaere (then Burgweiler ) and was for the supply of Rotenburg (now Hamlet Castle ) responsible. There were frequent water shortages and droughts, which meant that grain did not grow and people suffered from thirst. On the hamlet district there were formerly two chapels, St. Jodokus ( 1339 ) and St. Wolfgang ( 1450 ). The St. Jodokus Chapel was formerly the actual church of the village, although the chapel was situated three kilometers from the village. This chapel was canceled in 1809 and the foundations almost completely removed. Today, only a shrine to the former chapel. From 1381 the hamlet belonged to Austria and from the front end of Vorderösterreich the Kingdom of Württemberg. 1884 was allowed under the direction of Karl Ehmann of a single-cylinder piston pump with Diesel-/Ölantrieb and build an engine house, which was said to be in the Kingdom of Württemberg, one of the first. The wine was badly damaged by a bomb attack in 1945 and had to be stopped as a result. Since 2011 is in winter in Weiler, a mobile Nutcracker lift, which was purchased for skiers and snowboarders.

Since 1971, the hamlet belongs to the large district town Rottenburg am Neckar.

Hamlet is located on the L 385 between Rottenburg, Novalis and Hirrlingen. In public transport buses of the line between 7623 Rottenburg and Hirrlingen. The place is located in the comb 112 of the Transport Association Neckar -Alb -Donau. There are mainly located small businesses.
