Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Calabozo

The Archdiocese Calabozo (Latin: Archidioecesis Calabocensis, Spanish: Archidiócesis de Calabozo ) is a location in Columbia Roman Catholic diocese based in Calabozo. It includes a. Part of the Venezuelan state of Guárico.

History

Pope Leo XIII. founded it on 11 April 1900 has cessions of territory of the diocese of the Archdiocese of Mérida and Caracas, where it was assumed as a suffragan. The first bishop was appointed in 1881.

On June 17, 1995, it was elevated to the rank of Metropolitanerzbistums.

Parts of its territory it lost in favor of the establishment of the following dioceses:

  • June 7, 1954 to the bishopric of Guanare and Territorialprälatur San Fernando de Apure;
  • June 21, 1958 to the Diocese of Maracay,
  • July 23, 1965 to the bishopric of Barinas,
  • July 25, 1992 to the bishopric of Valle de la Pascua.
