Roman Catholic Diocese of San Fernando de Apure

The Diocese of San Fernando de Apure (Latin: Sancti Dioecesis Ferdinandiova apurensis ) is a location in Venezuela Roman Catholic diocese based in San Fernando de Apure. It covers the state of Apure.

History

Pope Pius XII. founded the Territorialprälatur San Fernando de Apure with the Apostolic Constitution Providentissimo Redemptoris on June 7, 1954 from annexations of the dioceses Calabozo and San Cristóbal de Venezuela and the Archdiocese of Caracas was assumed as suffragan.

With the Apostolic Constitution Sancti Ferdinandiova apurensis it was collected on 12 November 1974 to the diocese. With the elevation of the bishopric to Calabozo Metropolitanerzbistum on 17 June 1995, it was part of the new ecclesiastical province.
