Roman Catholic Diocese of Margarita

The Diocese of Margarita (Latin: Dioecesis Margaritensis ) is a location in Venezuela Roman Catholic diocese based in La Asunción on Isla Margarita. It includes the state of Nueva Esparta.

History

Pope Paul VI. founded the bishopric with the Apostolic Constitution Verba Christi on July 18, 1969 of territory of the Diocese of Cumana and the Archdiocese of Ciudad Bolivar was assumed as suffragan.

With the elevation of the bishopric to Cumana Metropolitanerzbistum On 16 May 1992 it became part of the new ecclesiastical province.
