Roman Catholic Diocese of Acarigua–Araure

The diocese Acarigua - Araure (Latin: Dioecesis Acariguaruensis ) is a location in Venezuela Roman Catholic diocese based in Acarigua. It includes a part of the state of Portuguesa.

History

Pope John Paul II established the Diocese on 27 December 2002 with the Apostolic Constitution Ad satius consulendum out of territory of the diocese Guanare and placed it under the Archdiocese of Barquisimeto as suffragan. First bishop was Joaquín José Morón Hidalgo.
