1939 World Snooker Championship

The Snooker World Cup 1939, a tournament was held for the seventh time in the Thurston 's Hall in London, England. Until the war-related break, from 1941, remained the venue.

In the finals it came to the new edition of the previous finals. Once again, Sidney Smith and Joe Davis were against. Davis won the final with 37:24 and thus secured the thirteenth World Champion title in a row. His brother Fred scored 113 points, the highest break, but bowed out with 14:17 against his brother.

For the second time, after 1933, also took back the Scot Walter Donaldson participated in the tournament. Until 1982 there was with Jim Donnelly another Scottish World Cup participants. Also for the second time, after 1936, was Stanley Newman, the younger brother of Tom Newman there, but had already lost his first match in qualifying with 12:19 against HW Laws.

The finalists of the 1936 World Champion of 1952 and only Australian participant Horace Lindrum, separated already in his first round match with 14:17 against the Englishman Alec Brown.
