1998 World Snooker Championship
The Snooker World Cup 1998 was held from 18 April to 4 May 1998 at the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield held and concluded the snooker season 1997 /98.
Defending champion was the Irishman Ken Doherty, who again came to the final. There, however, he had to Scotsman John Higgins defeated with 12:18 and thus fell like its predecessors, the curse of the Crucible victim.
For John Higgins was the first world champion title.

During the main round were scored by 19 players 59 Centuries. Thus, the previous record of 1996 ( 48 Centuries ) was exceeded. The record had to Snooker World Championship 2002 ( 68 Centuries ) inventory. John Higgins scored 14 Century breaks and allowed it to record by Stephen Hendry in 1995 (12 ) beat. 2002 Hendry took the record back with 16 Centuries.
