1949 World Snooker Championship

The Snooker World Cup 1949 was a tournament that was held for the third and final time in the Leicester Square Hall in London, England.

The final of denied, also for the third time, the Scot Walter Donaldson and the Englishman Fred Davis. As in the previous year, Davis prevailed with a 80:65 victory and secured his second of eight World Championship titles. After his older brother Joe, he was thus the second player to defend his first title.

The highest break Donaldson scored 115 points.

The Canadian Conrad Stanbury managed, after 1939, again in the main round. He divided against the eventual finalists Walter Donaldson clearly with 13:58.
