In the 44th round, he was able to overtake Farina and in the 61st round Villoresi had to make a short stop, which the Argentines came back to second place. Ascari but had a minute ahead, so that he ultimately had no chance to win his second Grand Prix. Since the possibilities of measuring time on site did not allow for differentiation in hundredths, the point for fastest lap between González and Ascari was divided.
