1998 FIVB Volleyball World League
The 1998 season of the Volleyball World League was the ninth edition of the competition. It began on May 15 and ended on July 19. Cuba won for the first time the title.
Mode
The preliminary ( " intercontinental round ") was carried out in three groups of four teams. The best teams from each group qualified for the next round. In this case Italy was already set to host the Final Four. The remaining group winners and runners-up as well as the hosts Spain and Yugoslavia qualified for a split into East and West playoff round. The two best teams in the Western group and the group winners from the East reached the Final Four. The four teams determined in the mode " all against all " the overall winner
