The game Wacker Burghausen vs TSV 1860 Munich (12th Round; 0:2 ) was annulled by the DFB sports court on 15 February 2006 and re-scheduled (1-0 ). Reason: 1860 Nemanja Vučićević was convicted of taking an illicit substance.

Rise

VfL Bochum succeed in directly resurgence. Energie Cottbus returns after three years back in the Bundesliga. Alemannia Aachen, however, had to wait 36 years for the return and rose again a year later on from the Bundesliga.

Descent

With Sportfreunde Siegen only a Rising Star of the previous year must be equal to descend again. Other losers are Dynamo Dresden, 1 FC Saarbrücken and LR Ahlen. Ahlen changed with the descent the club name to Rot Weiss Ahlen, as the eponymous main sponsor ended his involvement. With Saarbrücken and wins those two teams were relegated, the two or a year before the FC Augsburg wegschnappten the rise even on the last Regional matchday. FC Augsburg managed for this season the rise.

Top Scorer of the season was Christian Eigler of SpVgg Greuther Fürth with 18 goals.
