2006 World Matchplay (darts)

The Stan James World Matchplay 2006 was a major tournament in darts and was developed by the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC ) is organizing. It was held in Blackpool on 23 to 29 July 2006 at the Winter Gardens.

The defending champion Colin Lloyd defeated this year in the first round with the Englishman Steve Maish 6:10. New title slide was Phil Taylor, who was able to secure through a 18:11 - final win against James Wade his eighth title.

Prizes

The total amount of undistributed prize money was £ 150,000.

Qualification

For the World Matchplay 2006, the following players were qualified:

  • The 16 top-ranked players in the Order of Merit (set)
  • The 16 top-ranked players in the Players Championship Order of Merit, which were not already eligible on the Order of Merit ( unset )
