2013 World Matchplay (darts)

The World Matchplay 2013 was the 20th edition of the World Matchplay, organized by the Professional Darts Corporation ( PDC). The tournament was held from 20 to July 28, 2013 in Blackpool instead.

In the final, defending champion and record holder Phil Taylor defeated the two-time World Champion Adrian Lewis, who reached the final of the World Matchplay for the first time with 18:13. Thus, Taylor won the competition for the sixth time in a row for himself, he won a total of 14 times.

Prizes

As in the past four years was the prize again in 2013 £ 400,000.

Mode

Up to and including the World Matchplay 2012 all games of this tournament had to be won by a margin of at least two legs. There was no sudden death. This scheme accounted for first time in 2013, after the PDC had agreed with the partner Sky Sports that a maximum of five extra legs will be played before it comes to a tie-break Leg. In the first round ( Best of 19 legs ) so it could come to a maximum of 25 legs. With a score of 12:12 then a decision- Leg was played.

Qualification

The top 16 players in the PDC Order of Merit were set. The remaining 16 players were the best (not yet on the PDC Order of Merit set ) players on the PDC Pro Tour 2013.
