2008–09 Eurocup Basketball

The 2008/09 season was the seventh season of the discharged from the ULEB Euro Cup. It was the first execution of the competition under this name.

Mode

It was attended by 48 teams from 22 nations. The season began on 28 November 2008 and ended with the final on April 5, 2009. Firstly, a qualification was discharged. In the first qualifying round, 16 teams met each other in home and away matches. The winner from the addition of the two games qualified for the second qualifying round. The loser got permission to play in the Euro Challenge. In the second qualifying round met 8 set for this round teams in home and away matches on 8 winners of the first qualifying round, the winner from the addition of the two games qualified for the group stage. The loser got permission to play in the Euro Challenge. At the first group stage of 32 teams took part. In addition to the 24 directly qualified teams there were eight teams from the 2.Qualifikationsrunde. The 32 teams were divided into eight groups of four teams. It has every played against each a double round. The top two of each group came to the second group stage. The last round of 16 was played for the first time in the history of the Euro Cup.
