2009 Tour de France, Stage 12 to Stage 21#Stage 18

The 18th stage of the 2009 Tour de France on 23 July was a 40.5 km long individual time trial.

It was the third and final time trial of the Tour in 2009 and ran around Lac d' Annecy. Part was a mountain stage of the third category.

The circuit was 40.5 km long and contained a slope. Was started in the reverse order of the overall standings from the previous day with three minutes distance, so that the first driver at 11 clock and the two leading Andy Schleck and Alberto Contador as the last starter at 16:45 clock in the double sense against the clock ( at the lake ) drove.

In this way were the 77 starters, Fabian Cancellara (start time 13:42 clock, the best of the first time trial ), already at 14:30 clock at the finish line a good comparison time for the two intermediate timing points ( Doussard ( 18 km ) and Menthon ) (28,5 km; until there also the 205 m slope of the third category had to be overcome ) and the finish line known for all other drivers with profit on the yellow jersey. His end was then 48:33 minutes. Contador was able to consolidate his victory with his leadership position in the overall standings.
