2011 Rally d'Italia Sardegna

The Rally Sardinia 2011, officially Rally d' Italia Sardegna 2011 was the fifth round of the World Rally Championship in 2011 and also a round of the Super 2000 World Rally Championship 2011, and to the WRC Academy 2011. Sardinia The rally took place in 2011 for the eighth time and was held from 6 to 8 May at Sardinia.

Background

The rally consisted of 18 special stages over a distance of 339.7 kilometers evaluated. Hazards was on gravel roads. The paddock was located in Olbia. At the event a total of 64 vehicles were reported. The Mini WRC Team continued to Sardinia for the first time its new Mini John Cooper Works WRC Daniel Sordo and Kris Meeke for one.

Day 1 ( Friday, May 6 )

After an error in the pace notes Miikka Anttila of the passenger Jari- Matti Latvala had on the first special stage a rollover, the 25 seconds cost him. In the next stage he needed to leave the car because of a damaged suspension as a result of damage to his rollover final. Petter Solberg, who had seated himself with a best time on WP 1 initially to the top, lost to WP 2 with a defective turbocharger just under 40 seconds. Then a short time led Mikko Hirvonen, Sebastien Loeb to WP 4 took the lead. On WP 7 Hirvonen had a puncture after he touched an embankment. He lost about 50 seconds. Day 2 ( Saturday, May 7 )

Among the SupeRally regulations Latvala was allowed to start again on the second day. He set the pace, although no more prospects insisted on a front overall placement. Petter Solberg fell on WP 10, after suffering a puncture, back. Loeb continued to hold the lead and led after the second day, with nearly half a minute ahead of Hirvonen.

Day 3 ( Sunday, May 8th )

Sébastien Loeb held on the third day the attacking Hirvonen behind and won by a margin of 11.2 seconds, the rally. Mikko Hirvonen brought the bonus points on the Power Stage in front of Jari- Matti Latvala and Loeb. Third place went to Petter Solberg in the overall standings. The direct opponent Sébastien Ogier had to WP 17 a collision with a rock. Here, a suspension was broken, he lost over a minute. Ott Tanak won the SWRC class. 32 vehicles counted.
