1979 World Rally Championship season
The World Rally Championship in 1979 was the seventh of the Fédération Internationale de l' Automobile ( FIA) World Rally Championship organized. She was discharged in the period from January 20 to December 14 in twelve championship rounds. Ford won the manufacturers' championship for themselves. For the first time an official driver world champion was determined. The Swede Björn Waldegård won this with a Ford Escort.
