2013 Categoría Primera A season

The Categoría Primera A 2013 was composed of Apertura and Finalización season the highest Colombian league for football the men. The Apertura was the seventy-seventh and seventy-eighth the Finalización the hosting of the Colombian championship.

Mode

Two champions were determined, one for each half of the season. Each half of the season champion was automatically qualified for the Copa Libertadores. A third place was awarded to the club which is highest after the aggregation of all the points and goals of Phases 1 and 2 of the first and the second half of the series championship. As a club won both half- Series championships, the second participant was selected at the Libertadores by the same procedure as the third party. Two participants in the Copa Sudamericana were determined according to the same scheme as the third Libertadores participants: the two teams that were in the overall annual ranking behind this were qualified. A third association was determined by the cup competition and a fourth by the Super Liga de Colombia.

A direct relegated in the Categoría Primera B was determined by a separate descent table that was determined from the average of the past three seasons. The second last played a relegation against the second of the second division.
