57th Berlin International Film Festival
The 57th International Film Festival Berlin took place until February 18, 2007 of February 8.
The Berlinale was with Olivier Dahan 's La vie en rose (OT: La Môme ) opened. In the French drama Marion Cotillard embodies the French chanteuse Édith Piaf ( 1915-1963 ).
The Children's Film Festival was awarded to the 30th anniversary of a new name and will continue to run under the title "Generation ".
The film director Arthur Penn received on 15 February 2007 the Honorary Golden Bear for Lifetime Achievement and was also honored with a tribute. The 84 - year-old American is one with films such as Bonnie and Clyde (1967 ) the most important representatives of the "New Hollywood."
The festival reached new record attendance numbers. More than 19,000 accredited visitors from 127 countries attended the festival. Among the Akkredierten there were about 4,000 journalists from around the world. The films were seen by 430,000 viewers, including 220,000 were sold to the non-accredited public movie tickets. The cinema Cubix am Alexanderplatz was added as a new venue for the Panorama and Forum sections.

Jury president was the American director and screenwriter Paul Schrader. Other members were Hiam Abbass, the actor, Mario Adorf, Willem Dafoe and Gael García Bernal, Chinese producer Nansun Shi and Molly Malene Stensgaard Danish editor.

Retrospective
The retrospective was titled " City Girls. Images of Women in Silent Film " and dealt with the new image of women in the early 20th century in the silent film. A total of 30 films were screened within the program on this topic. Another retrospective dealt with the Magnum photo agency, which celebrated its 60th birthday in 2007. Under the retrospective entitled " Magnum in Motion" were documentaries and reports that had the work of Magnum photographers on the subject or were shot by photographers of the agency shown. The period of the films spanned from 1938 to 2007. Oldest post was the film L' Espagne Vivra Magnum founder Henri Cartier -Bresson.
Generation
The children's film festival took place this year for the 30th time and received with "generation" a new name. There are two areas of the section Generation: Generation Kplus ( kids movies) and Generation Plus 14 (youth films). In both areas, assigns a Child or Youth Jury Crystal Bear as the main prize.
