Aguanga is a census -designated place in Riverside County in the U.S. state of California. The town has 1128 inhabitants ( 2010).

Geography

Aguanga is located in the southwest of the Riverside counties in California at the meeting point of California State Route 79 and 371, ie at the former Butterfield Overland Mail Route. To the west, the city Temecula lies 27 kilometers away, in the south there is the Cleveland National Forest. History

It is named after the site of a former Indian village named Luiseño awáanga what "dog space " means in German. In 1858, the Butterfield Overland Mail established about three kilometers west of the present post office of the place the Tejungo station. The wooden building was built some distance away from the track in a forest. Later the settlement was renamed after the nearby Indian village in Aguanga station.
