East Hemet is a census -designated place (CDP ) in Riverside County in the U.S. state of California. In 2010, the city had 17,418 inhabitants. It is located outside the city limits of Hemet.
Geography
East Hemet is located in western Riverside County in the U.S. state of California. The municipality is bordered to the west and north of Hemet, on the northeast by Valle Vista and otherwise only to unincorporated. A piece southwest lies the Diamond Valley Lake Reservoir. The northern city limits is the California State Route 74
According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 13.502 km ², which completely made up of the country. With a population of 17 418, the population density is thus 1290 inhabitants per square kilometer. The town center lies at an altitude of 515 m.
Demography
At the time of the census of 2000, there were 14 823 East Hemet people. The population density was 1777.4 people per km ². There were 5064 housing units at an average 607.2 per km ². The population of East Hemet consisted of 80.04 % White, 1.54% Black or African American, 1.42% Native American, 1.04 % Asian, 0.09 % Pacific Islander, 11.89 % reported other races to belong and 3.99 % from two or more races. 24.91 % of the population to be Hispanic or Latino of any race.
The residents of East Hemet distributed to 4831 households out of which 42.4 % were living in children under 18 years. 57.7 % married couples living together, 15.1 % had a female householder with no husband present, and 21.6 % were non-families. 17.4% of households were made up of individuals and someone lived in 7.9 % of all households aged 65 years or older. The average household size was 3.03 and the average family size is 3.38 people.
The population was spread out with 32.8 % under the, 8.5 % 18 -24- year-old, 26.1 % 25 -44- year-old, 19.8% 45-64 year olds and 12.8 % under the age of 65 years or more. The average age was 33 years. For every 100 females there were 94.4 males. In the over -18s accounted for 100 women 89.5 males.
The median household income in East Hemet was 39 828 U.S. dollars, and the median family income reached the level of 42 356 U.S. dollars. The average income of men was 34,500 U.S. dollars, compared to 24,493 U.S. dollars for women. The per capita income amounted to 15,486 U.S. dollars. 17.1 % of the population and 13.4 % of families had affected an income below the poverty line, including 22.4 % of minors and 8.0 % of those age 65 or over.
Political representation
East Hemet is part of the 23rd District in the Senate of California, which is currently represented by Republican Bill Emmerson, and the 67th District of the California State Assembly, represented by Republican Melissa Melendez. Furthermore, East Hemet is part of the 36th Congressional District of California, the Cook Partisan Voting Index one of R 1 and is represented by Democrat Raul Ruiz.
