Raul Ruiz

Raul Ruiz ( born August 25, 1972 in Coachella, California) is an American politician. Since 2013 he represents the state of California in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Raul Ruiz attended until 1990, the Coachella Valley High School and then studied until 1994 at the University of California at Los Angeles. After a subsequent study of medicine at Harvard University and his medical license, he began to work in this profession. He worked for some time in Mexico, El Salvador and Serbia. After that, he was at the emergency Eisenhower Medical Center in Rancho Mirage in his native Coachella Valley. The earthquake in Haiti in 2010 he provided humanitarian aid. For this he received from the 82nd Airborne Division of the United States Army Commander 's Award for Public Service. In 2011, he was associate dean of the medical faculty of the University of California at Riverside. Politically, he joined the Democratic Party.

In the congressional elections of 2012, Ruiz was on the 36th electoral district of California in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he succeeds Janice Hahn took on 3 January 2013, moved into the 44th district. When choosing Ruiz won 52.9 percent of the vote. His Republican counterpart candidate Mary Bono Mack came to 47.1 percent and had thus leaving the Congress.
