Doug LaMalfa

Doug LaMalfa ( born July 2, 1960 in Oroville, California) is an American politician. Since 2013 he represents the state of California in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Doug LaMalfa visited until 1980, the Butte College in his hometown of Oroville. Then he studied until 1982 at the California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo. He later became manager of the family's rice plantation and a director of the California Rice Commission. At the same time he proposed as a member of the Republican Party launched a political career. Between 2002 and 2008 he was a deputy in the California State Assembly; 2010 to 2012 he was a member of the State Senate, where he sat in nine committees.

In the congressional elections of 2012 LaMalfa was the first electoral district of California in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of Mike Thompson on January 3, 2013. He beat the Democrats Jim Reed with 58 % to 42 % of the vote. Previously no longer nominee Wally Herger had represented this area.
