Richard H. Lehman

Richard Henry Lehman ( born July 20, 1948 in Sanger, California) is an American politician. Between 1983 and 1995 he represented the state of California in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Richard Lehman attended the public schools of his home and thereafter until 1968, the Fresno City College. This was followed up in 1969 to study at the California State University at Fresno. He finished his studies in 1971 at the University of California at Santa Cruz. From 1970 to 1976 Lehman worked for State Senator George Zenovich. During the same period he was also a member of the California National Guard. Politically, he joined the Democratic Party. In August 1968 he was a delegate to the Democratic National Convention. Between 1976 and 1982 he sat as a Member of the California State Assembly, where he served on the Group Board of the Democrats.

In the congressional elections of 1982, Lehman was the 18th electoral district of California in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of Bill Thomas on January 3, 1983. After five re- elections, he was able to complete in Congress until January 3, 1995 six legislative periods. Since 1993, he represented the 19th district where his state. Lehman sat down, inter alia, for the environment and consumer protection. In 1994 he was not re-elected. Today he works for a lobbying firm in Sacramento.
