Wally Herger

Walter William " Wally " Herger ( born May 20, 1945 in Yuba City, California) is an American politician of the Republican Party. Between 1987 and 2013 he represented the state of California in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Wally Herger visited the East Nicolaus High School and then studied at California State University, Sacramento. He then worked as a rancher. He also worked in the oil and gas industry as a businessman. At the same time he began a political career as a member of the Republican Party. Between 1980 and 1986 he was a deputy in the California State Assembly.

In the congressional elections of 1986, Herger was elected in the second District of California in the U.S. House of Representatives, where he became the successor of Eugene A. Chappie on January 3, 1987. He was re-elected twelve times, most recently in 2010 with 57.15 percent of the vote. In 2012 he gave up for reelection and retired on January 3, 2013, the Congress of.
