Chip Pashayan

Charles Pashayan Jr. ( born March 27, 1941 in Fresno, California) is an American politician. Between 1979 and 1991 he represented the state of California in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Charles Pashayan attended until 1959 the Bullard High School and then studied until 1963 at Pomona College in Claremont. Between 1968 and 1970 he was at the time of the Vietnam War, a captain in the U.S. Army. After studying law at Hastings College of the Law in San Francisco 1969, he was admitted to the bar. From 1973 to 1975 he worked for the Federal Ministry of Health, Education and Welfare. In 1977 he completed his own education with studies at the University of Oxford in England.

Politically, Pashayan joined the Republican Party. In the congressional elections of 1978 he was in the 17th electoral district of California in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he succeeded John Hans Krebs took on 3 January 1979 he had beaten in the election with 54 percent of the vote. After five re- elections, he was able to complete in Congress until January 3, 1991 six legislative periods. In 1990 Pashayan defeated by Democrat Cal Dooley. After the end of his time in the U.S. House of Representatives, he is no longer politically have appeared. Today he lives in his hometown of Fresno.
