Jerry McNerney

Gerald "Jerry" McNerney ( born June 18, 1951 in Albuquerque, New Mexico) is an American politician. Since 2007 he represents the state of California in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Jerry McNerney visited between 1967 to 1969, the St. Joseph 's Military Academy in Hays (Kansas) and then studied until 1971 at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point. In protest against the Vietnam War, he broke this study prematurely. In the following years he graduated to 1981 several courses at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque. He then worked in the energy sector, especially in the field of wind power. Since 2004 he was chairman of the company HAWT, which manufactures wind turbines. Politically, he joined the Democratic Party. In 2004, he ran unsuccessfully for Congress yet.

In the congressional elections of 2006, McNerney was but then in the eleventh electoral district of California in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of Richard Pombo on January 3, 2007. After the previous two elections, he can exercise his mandate until today. His election result against Republican David Harmer in 2010 was, however, very nearly 48% against 47% of the vote. McNerney advocates, among others, for renewable energy. He is a member of the Committee on Science, Space and Technology and the Veterans Committee and three subcommittees.

Jerry McNerney is married and has three children. He and his family live in Pleasanton private.
