Alabat is a Philippine municipality in the province of Quezon.

Geography

The municipality Alabat is about 160 kilometers southeast of Manila, on the island of the same Alabat that lies upstream of the northeast coast of Luzon in the bay of Lamon. To protect the natural resources that Alabat Watershed Forest Reserve was established in 1987.

Origin of the name

The name derives from the tagalesischen Alabat Alabat word for balustrade which were attached by the early residents at the entrances of the huts that small children not fall only on ladders to reach stilted houses.
