André Mahé

André Mahé ( born November 18, 1919 in Paris, † October 19, 2010 in Choisy -au -Bac ) was a French cyclist.

André Mahé was professional racing drivers of 1945 until 1954. Biggest success of his career include victories at Paris -Roubaix in 1949 and Paris-Tours in 1950. 1952 he was in Paris -Roubaix third parties. Four times he competed in the Tour de France three times, he gave up and in 1949 he was ranked 49th

His victory at Paris- Roubaix had a bad aftertaste: Mahé drove into a three-member group, which was led wrong by a marshal and therefore not found the right way to your destination in the velodrome of Roubaix; the driver, but one of which crashed, finally opened a door, found himself in the press box again and climbed along with the wheels on the chairs to get to the web. Mahé won the sprint and was honored as the winner. Serse Coppi, brother of Fausto Coppi won the sprint of the chasing group. After a protest against the classification and many discussions Coppi was six months later recognized as the second best next to Mahé.
