André Myhrer

André Myhrer ( born January 11, 1983 in Bergsjö ) is a Swedish alpine skier. Since the World Cup season 2004/2005 he is one of the world's best slalom racers. His greatest successes were the victory in the World Cup Slalom 2011/2012 as well as winning the bronze medal at the Olympic Winter Games 2010.

Biography

In his first full season in the World Cup (2004/ 05) Myhrer achieved two podiums. In Schladming ( Austria ), he finished behind the two Austrian Manfred Pranger and Benjamin Raich third place in Kranjska Gora, Slovenia, only the Italian Giorgio Rocca was faster than him. In the World Cup Starting List to Myhrer has been working in the group of the top seven after start of the season in Beaver Creek ( USA) still drove up with number 56 on the fifth place. At the 2005 World Championships in Bormio, he finished fifth and at the Olympic Winter Games in 2006 ranked fourth in the slalom.

In the second World Cup slalom of the season 2006/ 07 in Beaver Creek Myhrer celebrated his first victory. However, until his next podium he had to wait over three years. At the 2007 World Championships in Åre, Sweden's only 20 reached the courts in the giant slalom and 22 in slalom. In 2009 he stayed in Val d'Isere after two failures without result. At the Olympic Winter Games 2010 Myhrer won the bronze medal in the slalom. In slalom in Zagreb on 6 January 2011, he celebrated his second World Cup victory. At the World Championships 2011 in Garmisch -Partenkirchen, he finished tenth in the slalom.

In the season 2011/2012 Myhrer won the last two slalom races in Kranjska Gora, Schladming, were added four more podium finishes. At the World Cup final, he was thus able to intercept the slalom World Cup Ivica Kostelic and Marcel Hirscher yet, neither of which came in the points. Myhrer so is the third Swedish crystal ball winner by Ingemar Stenmark and Thomas Fogdö. In the 2012/2013 season, he could not keep quite this level: With a victory in Levi and two second places, he finished in the discipline rating in fourth place. At the World Championships 2013 in Schladming, he missed fourth slalom just a medal.
