Baden District, Austria

The district Baden is the most populous political district in Lower Austria. The district of Baden, among other things because of its thermal springs and the wine is known. The district is located in the industrial area.

Location

The district is divided by the thermal line in a flat eastern part of the Vienna Basin and the western mountainous part in the Vienna Woods. The main rivers are the Schwechat and Triesting.

Traffic

The main transport links are South A2 motorway and the Austrian Southern Railway north to south towards Vienna and Wiener Neustadt.

In the West, tangent to the Vienna outer ring highway A21, to the east, the South East motorway A3.

Some rail lines also traverse the district. There is also a local train from Vienna to Baden.

Administrative divisions

The district Baden is divided into 30 municipalities, including five cities and 18 market towns.

The most important of the abbreviations used are:

  • R = Rotte
  • W = hamlet
  • D = village
  • ZH = Scattered houses
  • Sdlg = settlement
  • E = bowery (only if they have their own town code)
