Bærum [BAE rʉm ː ] is a municipality in Akershus in Norway. It is equipped with 116 974 inhabitants (31 March 2013), the largest municipality of Akershus and the fifth largest in Norway.

Geography

Bærum is located between Oslo and Asker and is a western suburb of Oslo and a part of the urban capital area and part of the Diocese of Oslo, further Bærum is considered the richest and most exclusive community in Norway, and the inhabitants ( " Bäringer ") apply in Norway stereotype for rich people.

In Bærum is the Telenor Arena, home of Stabæk IF and venue of the Euro Vision Song Contest 2010. The murder of 77 people to 21 years in prison with subsequent preventive detention denounced Anders Behring Breivik is in a high security prison Ila housed in the municipality of Bærum.

Economy

The city is also the closure of the airport Oslo Fornebu in 1998 a transport hub. In addition, the Norwegian telephone company Telenor has its headquarters here since 2002.
