Biševo

Biševo is a Croatian island in the Adriatic. It is located 3 miles southwest of the island of Vis.

On Biševo wine is cultivated. On the organic largely intact Biševo only thrives Plavac mali grape variety. As the islands of Hvar, Brac and Vis, this wine is lush, has a dark ruby color and a high alcohol content and a distinctive aroma, which is characterized by the slightly bitter taste and the lush bouquet.

Interesting are the many caves of the island lying far on the open sea. Your inputs are partly below sea level. The most famous cave is the Modra špilja ( Blue Grotto ), located on the island of Biševo. Especially nice are there, the lighting effects that occur at the water surface by the refraction of the sun's rays.

Biševo and small surrounding islands have long been the last refuge of the monk seal (Monachus monachus) in the Adriatic Sea. Since the opening of the archipelago for mass tourism the already very small stocks fell more and more.
