Blue Note Jazz Festival

The Blue Note Jazz Festival is a since 2011 in June held annually in New York City Jazz Festival. It is organized for the Blue Note Entertainment Group, which also operates one of the leading New York jazz club, the Blue Note by Danny Bensusan.

The festival takes place in the clubs of the Blue Note Group ( next to the Blue Note, BB King Blues Club and Highline Ballroom) and other locations such as the Town Hall and Central Park. It takes place over the entire month of June.

The festival sought to bridge the gap in the Summer Festival in New York plan to fill that arose due to the elimination of the existing until 2007 JVC Jazz Festival and the two sequels in 2009/10 under the sponsor CareFusion. Clearly that was right the first festival when George Wein with his Newport All Stars appeared and was a birthday tribute concert to Jon Hendricks and a tribute to Jimmy Scott, one of the hallmarks of the JVC festival.

2011 occurred McCoy Tyner, Bill Frisell, Lee Konitz, Patti Austin, Gary Peacock, Joey Baron, Gregory Porter, Hiromi, Medeski, Martin & Wood, Gato Barbieri, Marc Ribot, Jim Hall and Ron Carter, Eric Burdon & The Animals, Chaka Khan, the Manhattan Transfer, Bobby McFerrin and the Yellowjackets, Milton Nascimento, Roberta Flack, Eddie Palmieri, Nancy Wilson, Chris Botti, Dave Holland Quintet with Chris Potter and Robin Eubanks, Jon Hendricks ( 90th birthday with Annie Ross), Madeleine Peyroux, Dave Brubeck, Diane Schuur, George Wein and Newport All Stars, Brian Wilson ( Reimagines Gershwin ).

2012 occurred McCoy Tyner, Bela Fleck, Soulive, Buika, Kathleen Battle, Cassandra Wilson, Stanley Clarke / George Duke, Groove Theory, Michel Camilo, Jimmy Scott, Roy Haynes, Jack DeJohnette, Charles Tolliver, Lou Donaldson, Arturo Sandoval, James Carter, Jerry Douglas, Black Thought & Rahzel with Strings.

2013 were Wayne Shorter with Quintet at the Town Hall with Terri Lyne Carrington, Geri Allen, Esperanza Spalding and Dave Douglas / Joe Lovano Quintet in a tribute to the 80th birthday of Shorter. In addition, kicked and 4th Dimension, McCoy Tyner and the Latin All Stars, Gato Barbieri, Kenny Werner Coalition with Lionel Loueke and Miguel Zenón, Pedrito Martinez, Poncho Sanchez, Willie Colón, Joshua Redman Quartet with Brad Mehldau and among other things, Buddy Guy, John McLaughlin Larry Grenadier and Brian Blade, Chucho Valdés Quintet, mezzo-soprano Alicia Hall Moran and her Motown Project ( with Jason Moran on piano ), Sadao Watanabe, Bill Payne, Tommy Emmanuel, Amel Larrieux, Wyclef Jean, Bob James and David Sanborn, the Harlem Gospel Choir, Bucky Pizzarelli, the Dizzy Gillespie All Star Big Band, the Rebirth Brass Band and The Greyboy Allstars (including with Gary Bartz as a guest).
