Börßum

Börßum is a municipality of the velvet municipality or forest district Wolfenbüttel in Southeast Lower Saxony, Germany. Börßum is seat of administration of the velvet municipality or forest.

Geographical Location

The place is located a few kilometers north of the resin, just north of Schladen, on the eastern bank of the river Oker, about 11 km south of Wolfenbüttel and is close to the south-east of the Oder Forest.

Quarters are Börßum, Achim, Bornum, doldrums and Seinstedt.

History

Börßum had many names: 1135 Borsne, 1310 Borssen, 1338 Borssem, 1422 United Borsem, 1581 Borsum, 1652 Börsumb, around 1770 Borsheim, 1765 Boersheim, 1762 for the first time Börßum. On 1 November 2011, the community was incorporated by Achim Börßum.

Börßum was once a railway junction of routes to Brunswick, Vienenburg, Jerxheim Kreiensen, Oschersleben (Bode ) and aquatic life. Today only the railway Brunswick- Bad Harzburg in operation. In her DB Regio leads through passenger every hour. In the section Börßum -Salzgitter -Bad track after Kreiensen, the so-called Warne Valley Railway, go museum trains. The route Brunswick- Bad Harzburg was the first German state railway. Börßums station has been preserved in its historic appearance. Of the former ten tracks today are the most degraded. Track 1 and 2 are in operation of the DB AG, track 5, 6, and 32 are used by the Warne Valley Railway.

Incorporations

On 1 November 2011, the neighboring community Achim was incorporated. This was already enlarged on 1 March 1974 at the former municipalities doldrums and Seinstedt. Was the community Bornum to a district of their neighboring community Börßum Also on 1 March 1974.

Religions

In Börßum is a Protestant church, the church belongs to the parish association Börßum -Achim - Bornum the provost Schoeppenstedt.

In 1954 the Catholic Kuratie Börßum was established by combining the two Pfarrvikarien Hornburg and Semmenstedt. 1959/60 was followed by the construction of the Church of St. Bernward. 2011, the church was desecrated, recently it belonged to the parish of St. Peter in Wolfenbüttel. Today, the nearest Catholic Church is in Heiningen 2 km away.

Miscellaneous

Börßum offers next to the old train station, a primary school (construction 1899, renovation 2002/ 03), several pubs, restaurants and a snack since 2009. Furthermore, many sports (football, basketball, etc) are available.
